Lucas Oil Motocross Championship Celebrates its 50th Anniversary

 With a bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, Shane Mularkey is the director of operations at Airstream Ventures. Shane Mularkey oversees operations in North Florida. The events include Spartan, NCAA March Madness, and the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship.

Launched in 1972, the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship, under the sanction of the American Motocross Association, features a series of outdoor motocross races with bikes from different factories competing in what is considered the toughest tracks in America. The races, broadcast internationally by MATV Motorsports network, feature two bike classes, one for the 250cc and the other 450cc. Under Lucas Oil Corporation's sponsorship, Max Oil Pro Racing company organizes races every afternoon.

In June 2022, the Lucas Oil Motocross Championship celebrated its 50th anniversary at Prairie City, in Rancho, Cordova, California, with four races in the 250 Moto 1, 450 Moto 1, 250 Moto 2, and 450 Moto 2 races for a total of 12 rounds. The championship anniversary was preceded by a Friday night race preview by Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and Monster Energy, with guest speakers and fans camping at the track invited to join the festivities.

Based in Atlantic Beach, Florida, Shane Mularkey is the director of operations for Jacksonville’s Airstream Ventures, an entertainment services company operating throughout north Florida. In terms of academics, the organization provides a number of services designed to help students achieve higher test scores, gain admission at better schools, achieve scholarship opportunities, and effectively prepare for a successful college career.

Specific academic programs include the High School 9:12 academic boot camps. These programs provide students with a number of helpful test-taking strategies. Some strategies seek to improve test scores, while others help students remain calm and confident in test-taking environments.

Walk Off Charities - School and Community Clinics

 Airstream Ventures director of operations Shane Mularkey has over a decade of experience in sales, real estate, and event management roles. Aside from his work, Shane Mularkey is an active member of his Florida community and supports several organizations, both as an individual and through Airstream Ventures. One of the groups the company supports is Walk Off Charities.

The goal of Walk Off Charities is to provide young people from underserved communities with the opportunity to learn how to play baseball and, through that, teach them lessons and skills they can use in various aspects of their lives.

Among the many initiatives, Walk Off Charities organizes clinics for third graders, mainly those coming from underserved communities. The goal of these clinics is to introduce children to baseball and the STEM aspects of this sport. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Children will learn about launch angle, fastballs and how to pitch to create velocity, the effect of gravity in bringing the ball back to earth, and the importance of accuracy in throwing.

The children who participate in the clinics get to spend time at each of the four stations: batting, pitching, fielding, and throwing. At each station, they learn the basics, and they get to practice. At the end of the clinic, students are asked if they would like to play for a baseball team and whether they believe every child should have the opportunity to play.

In addition to learning the game and practicing, children receive a new glove as a first step in getting equipped for the sport, and they receive lunch provided by the charity’s partners. Finally, children have the opportunity to interact with high school and college coaches that will share their insights.

Televised Football Garnered Loyal

Shane Mularkey serves as director for operations of Airstream Ventures, a sporting events management company in Jacksonville, Florida. A graduate of the exercise and sports science program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Shane Mularkey played college football for the North Carolina Tar Heels from 2009 to 2011.

Football is one of the most loved major sports in the United States and Canada. According to statistical data, as of July 2020, football is the most favorite sport to watch in the United States before the COVID pandemic. Forty-six percent of the fans surveyed stated they watch live NFL games regularly before the arenas were closed in compliance with health protocols.

The first NFL draft happened on February 8, 1936, at Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Philadephia, Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Jay Berwanger with the first overall pick, making him the first player to be drafted by any NFL team. Berwanger played college football with the University of Chicago at the halfback position. Since playing pro football was not that lucrative during that time, Berwanger did not play a single NFL game but pursued a career as a rubber foam salesman.

Since the Super Bowl era began in 1967, there has been only one year in which a quarterback was not selected in the first two rounds of the NFL draft. In the third round of the 1988 draft, Tom Tupa was selected by the Phoenix Cardinals with the 68th overall pick, while Christopher Mark Chandler was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the 76th overall pick.

The first nationally televised football game was played between Waynesburg College and Fordham University on September 30, 1939. The game was broadcasted by NBC on W2XBS. Between 500 and 5,000 viewers were estimated to watch the game on TV, while 9,000 fans watched the game live. Fordham won 34-7. The first televised pro football game was played between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Brooklyn Dodgers on October 22, 1939. Brooklyn won 23-14.
